Getting started
Do I need to install anything?
No. COMPCTRL runs in the browser on computer, tablet or phone. Judges don't need their own accounts – they sign in with the code or link you share.
How do participants get their start times?
When you publish the heat schedule, each participant can see their start time on the public page. They can also scan the QR code on site.
Can I try it before I decide?
Yes. Create a Free Trial event with up to 6 participants and test the entire flow at no cost.
Can I import my start list from Excel?
Yes. Upload your existing Excel file and the import wizard helps you map the columns to the right fields.
On race day
How does judge input work without accounts?
You share a QR code or link with each judge. They open the link on their phone, enter their code and input results directly.
Can participants see live results during the race?
Yes. When you publish results the public page updates in real time, and TV mode shows standings on the big screen.
What happens if the internet goes down in the venue?
Timing and judge input continue locally on the device. Once the network is back, everything syncs automatically.
Can I change the heat schedule on race day?
Yes. You can move participants between heats at any time – changes show up immediately on the public page.
Technology and reliability
Which browsers are supported?
COMPCTRL works in modern browsers like Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari – on computer, tablet and phone.
How secure is the time registration?
Every time registration is stored in an unbroken chain. If something is corrected, it is logged so you can trace exactly what happened.
Can multiple people work at the same time?
Yes. Several officials can time at different stations simultaneously, and the system handles concurrent input without conflicts.
Do judges need to download an app?
No. Judge mode runs in the browser on any modern smartphone.
Data protection (GDPR)
Where is our data stored?
All data is stored within the EU. We never sell information to third parties.
How is personal data handled during registration?
The organizer is the data controller and COMPCTRL acts as data processor. Our DPA describes exactly how the data is handled.
Can we export or delete our data?
Yes. You can export your data at any time or ask us to delete it. Contact us and we'll help you.
Which sub-processors are used?
We use a small number of sub-processors for hosting, payments and email. The full list is on the Sub-processors page.
